The Rurik statue is made of Karelian granite between the years 2000 and 2020. (I am still working on some details :)) First a clay model was made of plaster, then it was transferred to the granite. I processed the granite with a diesel fire extinguisher, which planes the stone. The granite feels like “butter”. Then I used an angle cutter, hammer and chisel. The idea behind the statue is that it is a father symbol. A father who takes care of his children and they look out over the sea together. They see the future together. We will build a staircase that visitors will be able to climb, up to the bow. knyaz Rikard has been a member of the Russian Union of Artists since 1993.
